Five Ford Cars We Want to See in India: From the Mustang Mach-E to the Endeavour

Ford Motor is speculated to make a comeback in India, as the US-based carmaker has filed design patents for the domestic market and global models spotted on Indian roads. While the company has not made an official statement, Ford is expected to return after two years of stopping production in 2022.

One of the most anticipated models in India is the Endeavour SUV, which rivals the Toyota Fortuner. The Ford Everest, which is the new generation avatar of the Endeavour SUV, has been spotted on Indian roads. The Everest comes with a 2.0-litre turbo diesel or a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine with power ranging from 168 bhp to 208 bhp.

Another model spotted on Indian roads is the Ford Ranger pickup truck, which can rival the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max in India. Globally, the Ranger is offered with three engine options including a 2.3-litre EcoBoost, 2.7-litre EcoBoost, and a 3.0-litre EcoBoost engine.

Ford may introduce the Bronco SUV in India to compete with models like the Mahindra Thar or Maruti Suzuki Jimny. The Bronco comes with a 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 petrol engine and a 2.3-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder engine option.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E, which offers up to 502 km of driving range and two battery choices, could also make a comeback in India in its electric avatar. Similarly, the Ford F-150 Lightning, an electric pickup truck with a range of 482 km on a single charge and impressive towing capacity, may find a market in India as EV adoption grows.

It will be interesting to see how Ford’s potential return to the Indian market with these new models will impact the automotive industry and the choices available to consumers.
