Florida Southern College was founded as South Florida Institute in Orlando, Florida in 1883, and moved to nearby Leesburg in 1885. Earlier it was known as Florida Conference College and later it was sponsored by the United Methodist Church following the move to Leesburg in 1885.

Florida Southern College is a private college in Lakeland, Florida. It has around 3,073 students along with 130 full-time faculty members. The college offers 50 undergraduate majors and pre-professional programs, graduate programs in nursing, business, and education and post-graduate programs in nursing, education, and physical therapy.

Florida Southern College is also the world’s largest single-site collection of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. The Princeton Review selected Florida Southern’s campus as the most beautiful in the country in its 2011 and 2012 rankings.
