FM Nirmala Sitharaman highlights rapid development in Northeast during PM Modi’s tenure

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted the development in Northeast under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, stating the region had drawn immense attention in just 10 years. Speaking at IIT Guwahati, she emphasized the significant progress made under Modi’s governance compared to previous governments.

Sitharaman pointed out that PM Modi visited Northeast 65 times in the last decade, leading to extensive development projects. She mentioned the increase in national highways from 10,000 km before 2014 to over 6,000 km built in the last 10 years. Additionally, the region now boasts 17 airports, with four offering international flights services.

Highlighting the connectivity improvements, Sitharaman noted that under Modi’s government, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim were connected by air services for the first time. She expressed optimism about the region’s future, stating that the Northeast’s development progress signifies its potential contribution to India becoming a developed nation by 2047.

The Finance Minister emphasized the transformative impact of PM Modi’s administration on the Northeast, underscoring the region’s newfound significance in national development goals. Sitharaman’s remarks shed light on the positive changes the region has experienced under Modi’s leadership and the promising outlook for its future growth and prosperity.
