Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra granted six-month extension

In a recent development, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved an extension in service for Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra. The extension granted is for six months, lasting till October 31, 2024.

Vinay Mohan Kwatra, an Indian Foreign Service officer of the 1988 batch, was scheduled to retire on April 30 this year. However, with the recent approval, his service has been extended till October 31, 2024. The decision was made in public interest and in accordance with the provisions of FR 56 (d).

The order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training stated, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved extension in service of Shri Vinay Mohan Kwatra as Foreign Secretary for six months beyond 30.04.2024 up to 31.10.2024 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.” This extension showcases the recognition of Kwatra’s valuable contributions in his role as the Foreign Secretary.

Vinay Mohan Kwatra’s extension reflects the government’s confidence in his capabilities and expertise in handling foreign affairs.
