Former Indian Hockey Stars Receive Specialized Coaching for Goalkeeper and Drag-Flicker Training Uniformity

Former hockey goalkeepers and drag-flickers received intensive training under the guidance of High-Performance Director Herman Kruis at SAI Bengaluru to standardize coaching methodologies nationally and nurture future hockey talent. Esteemed former India players participated to hone coaching skills and implement uniformity in training for grassroots athletes.

The program, aimed at ensuring consistency in coaching, saw former India goalkeepers like Adrian D’Souza and Bharat Chetri, as well as drag-flickers such as Rupinder Pal Singh and VR Raghunath undergo specialized training. Herman Kruis supervised the sessions to equip these icons with the latest techniques, ultimately enhancing coaching standards across the country.

Herman Kruis emphasized the significance of empowering former hockey stars with advanced coaching methods to shape Indian hockey’s future. The collaboration between seasoned trainers and young athletes is expected to elevate coaching quality and opportunities for budding players. Post-training, these coaches will impart their expertise at premier national academies through intensive 3-day sessions.

This development aligns with Hockey India’s recent initiative targeting young goalkeepers and drag-flickers to invest in India’s hockey future. The focus on talent identification and development at grassroots levels aims to strengthen the player pipeline and ensure a continuous pool of skilled athletes for national teams. Such strategic efforts are crucial for enhancing India’s hockey prospects and securing a sustainable future for the sport.
