Fourth Wave Scare: India Reports 2,183 New COVID-19 Cases With 90% Jump In Last 24 Hours

India on Monday reported a sharp jump of 90% in daily COVID-19 cases, the Union Health Ministry reported. In the last 24 hours, 2183 new cases were reported in the country and with this, the total number of coronavirus cases reached 4,30,44,280. At the same time, 214 people lost their lives in the fight against COVID in the last 24 hours. With these deaths, the total COVID-19 death toll rose to 5,21,965.

According to the Union Health Ministry of India, at present, the total number of active cases in India is only 0.3% of the total cases, while the national rate of those who recovered from the infection is 98.76%.

In the last 24 hours, 1,985 people recovered from the infection. 4,25,10,773 people have recovered from the infection so far.

186.54 Crore Vaccination Doses So Far

Health Ministry reported on Monday via an official press release on PIB, “India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 186.54 Cr (1,86,54,94,355) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 2,27,52,392 sessions.”

The Indian Council of Medical Research stated they tested 2,61,440 samples in the last 24 hours.

States have more than 20.53 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses

The Health Ministry has said that continuous efforts are being made to increase the pace of COVID-19 vaccination. Notably, the new phase was started on June 21 2021 to make the vaccine of Covid-19 available to all.

Central Government has so far provided about 192.27 crore COVID vaccine doses to states via free and direct state government procurement channels. At present, more than 20.53 crore additional and unused doses of the Covid-19 vaccine are available in the states.
