Free Ration Scheme Expected to Have Significant Impact in UP During LS Polls, Says Yogi Adityanath

In a recent statement, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has highlighted the significant impact of the free ration scheme on the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. With 3.60 crore ration cardholders set to vote, the transparent governance approach aims to win the electorate’s trust and support.

Yogi Adityanath emphasized the positive relief offered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proactive measures to provide free rations during the Covid-19 pandemic, benefiting 15 crore individuals in Uttar Pradesh. This scheme, which played a crucial role in the 2022 Assembly elections, is expected to sway voters once again in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The focus remains on the beneficiary class, ensuring transparency in ration distribution. By November 2023, 3.60 crore cardholders in UP were benefiting from free rations, with new cards issued based on priority. The government’s emphasis on e-POS machines and Aadhaar seeding has led to a high compliance rate in ration distribution.

The implementation of the One Nation One Ration Card scheme has further facilitated ration distribution across states. From May 2020 to October 2023, thousands of cardholders from other states received free ration in UP, while UP cardholders in other states have also successfully accessed rations. The government’s efforts aim to ensure no eligible person is left out of the scheme.
