Gavaskar proudly displays his signed shirt by Dhoni in his house

India batting legend Sunil Gavaskar expressed his admiration for ex-India captain MS Dhoni, revealing his pride in owning a shirt autographed by the iconic cricketer during last year’s IPL. Gavaskar recounted his fan moment with Dhoni and highlighted the importance of role models in sports.

Gavaskar shared, “Ever since I saw MSD playing for the first time, I have been his fan. The fan wants to meet his hero, chat with him, get his autograph and a photograph. I admire his cricket, his attitude, his behavior.” He emphasized Dhoni’s exemplary conduct on and off the field and commended him as a good role model.

Reflecting on a special day for him on March 7, Gavaskar celebrated completing 10000 Test runs in 1987. He marked the occasion during the ongoing Test in Dharamshala by cutting a cake in the commentary box, expressing gratitude to BCCI for remembering the milestone.

Gavaskar, currently commentating on the fifth Test match against X, highlighted the significance of the day and shared his appreciation for the recognition from BCCI. He also mentioned R Ashwin’s 100th Test match, calling it a special day for Indian cricket and expressing hope for a win in the match.
