Gen Z Democrat Harry Sisson Faces Backlash After Claiming Trump’s Election ‘Destroyed American Decency

Gen Z activist Harry Sisson has created a huge ruckus on the internet with his remarks on the election triumph of Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump, who is all set to become the 47th President of the United States. According to media outlet CNN, Donald Trump is poised to become the next President after securing 276 votes, just above the required 270 votes. He is also going to be the first President to command a majority in the Senate.

Gen Z activist Harry Sisson took to X shortly after Trump was declared the winner to share his disapproval with the projected results in a series of tweets.

He wrote:

“American decency was destroyed tonight. We used to be a nation that expected our representatives to be mature, professional, experienced leaders who made us proud. Now, we’re a nation that permits someone like Trump, who bullies and mocks, to thrive.”

This was followed by another tweet:

“It is really depressing to see how many people voted for this felon, r**cist, fraudster who lies constantly. Many Americans failed their fellow Americans tonight.”

Sisson’s post garnered millions of views and also received a fair amount of backlash for his comments.

One X user tweeted:

“Trump’s going to make America great again. Hop on the Trump train Harry.”

Another user commented:

“Trump won because he was the better candidate.”

A third user added:

“Get a job, you bum.”

Another user took a jab at Sisson’s tweet, saying:

“What you see might surprise you.”

Harry Sisson, a 22-year-old Gen Z activist, is a politics and law student at NYU. He has been posting politics-related videos on TikTok and other social media platforms aimed at teenagers, hoping to make a mark in the political scene with his views. Sisson has millions of followers and is an avowed supporter of Kamala Harris.

In an interview on Scripps News ahead of the elections, Sisson predicted an “overwhelming majority” win for Democratic nominee Kamala Harris. He stated:

“I predict along with many others that Gen Z will turn out at the highest rate in history. Now, of course, there are more Gen Z voters than ever. But these folks are not going to sit on the sidelines.”

However, like other predictions, this one also went awry.

According to Sisson, Gen Z votes primarily on issues such as the economy, housing, climate change, reproductive rights, health care, and inflation. He also mentioned that the ongoing war in Gaza has impacted Gen Z’s voting decisions.

“It’s tragic what’s happening in the Middle East. The loss of life on both sides is awful. But I think a lot of people have come to the view that not voting at all or not voting for Kamala Harris only leads to worse outcomes for the Middle East,”

he added.

“Of course, there are going to be young people who still say, ‘It’s a dealbreaker for me, I can’t do it.’ I think a lot of the people who initially were sitting on the sidelines have come around to vote for Kamala Harris and will be doing so today.”
