New Delhi, March 19 (IANS) GoodEnough Energy has revealed plans to invest over Rs 450 crore in the establishment of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) gigafactory in Jammu & Kashmir. The gigafactory will initially have a capacity of 7GWh, which will be increased to 20 GWH by 2026.

GoodEnough Energy founder Akash Kaushik stated that the company’s goal is to support India’s Net-Zero objective and assist industries with high CO2 emissions, such as molding industries, automation, mining, hospitals, refineries, malls, and shopping complexes. The annual storage capability of 7GWH is expected to reduce over 5 million tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

In addition to its environmental impact, the gigafactory is set to provide job opportunities for more than 100 SMEs as vendors and suppliers, contributing to job creation in the J&K region. The announcement was made at an event attended by Dinesh Jagdale, Joint Secretary, MNRE, and Rahul Walawalkar, president, India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA).
