Google Cloud CEO Unveils New AI Capabilities and Advanced Chips for the Future
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian unveiled several new advancements in the AI era during the ‘Google Cloud Next’ event in the US. This includes the launch of Google Axion, the company’s first custom Arm-based CPU for data centers, and Gemini 1.5 Pro which offers two sizes of context windows.
Gemini 1.5 Pro is now available in public preview and allows customers to process audio files, videos with audio, codebases, and a large amount of information in a single stream. Google also introduced Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) for “AI anywhere” enabling users to choose the environment that best suits their organization’s needs.
‘Google Axion’ promises better performance and energy efficiency compared to current x86-based instances. Vertex AI, the enterprise AI platform, offers customers over 130 models to discover, customize, deploy, and manage AI models. The company also announced the availability of Google DeepMind’s SynthID for AI-generated images produced by Imagen 2.0.
Thomas Kurian highlighted that Gemini 1.5 Pro can process an extensive amount of information in a single stream. He added that ‘Google Axion’ delivers improved performance and energy efficiency. Additionally, Vertex AI offers a unified platform for customers to manage AI models efficiently.
