Govt engineer in J&K's Ramban booked for rape

A case of rape has been filed against an engineer of the J&K Jal Shakti Department in Ramban district. The accused, Yawar Amin, who is an Assistant Engineer, is currently on the run according to police officials.

The victim, in her complaint filed at the Banihal police station, stated that the accused raped her when she was alone in his house after his wife had left for Jammu. The victim mentioned that the accused gave her some medicine after which she fell ill and was raped. Upon disclosing the incident to the accused’s wife, she was allegedly thrown out of the house.

“The complainant said the accused gave her some medicine after which she fell ill and he raped her subsequently. The complainant said that after she disclosed the incident to the wife of the accused when she returned from Jammu, she was thrown out of the house,” the official said, adding that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and the investigation has been started.

The accused, Yawar Amin, is an Assistant Engineer in the Jal Shakti Department and was posted in the Samagra area in Ramban. The police have confirmed that a case of rape has been filed against him and investigations are ongoing to apprehend the accused. The victim’s statement and evidence will be crucial in determining the outcome of the case.
