Govt will continue with nextgen economic reforms in 3rd term: Nirmala Sitharaman

New Delhi, Feb 27 – Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed the national conclave on Viksit Bharat 2047, stating that the government will continue economic reforms to position India as the third largest economy globally. She emphasized reforms in land, capital, and digital infrastructure to drive growth.

Sitharaman highlighted that the upcoming government post general elections aims to build on the reforms of the last decade. She stressed the significance of digital infrastructure as a factor of production alongside land, labor, and capital, with a focus on artificial intelligence, space, and policy support for precious metals and semiconductors.

The Finance Minister urged the industry leaders to play a pivotal role in India’s economic growth trajectory, emphasizing the need for alignment with national interests and as contributors to the nation’s development. She noted the increasing trust of global investors in India’s potential and encouraged the industry to seek international joint ventures for technology advancement.

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to achieve developed nation status by 2047, Sitharaman reiterated the government’s commitment to reaching this goal. She called for economic independence and emphasized the industry’s role in driving India’s growth towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.
