Greece supports efforts for peace treaty between Armenia-Azerbaijan: PM

Greece Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed support for peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The leaders hope for progress in upcoming discussions and acknowledge the importance of dialogue in resolving disputes.
Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers are set to meet in Berlin to discuss a peace deal regarding the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh. The region has been a point of contention between the two countries since 1988, despite ceasefire agreements in place since 1994.

Pashinyan thanked Greece for supporting cooperation between Armenia and the European Union, while Mitsotakis pledged to strengthen bilateral ties, particularly in trade. Both leaders emphasize the value of respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity in international relations.
The meeting in Berlin follows previous discussions in Munich earlier this month, where parties agreed to work towards a peaceful resolution. The ongoing peace talks aim to address long-standing conflicts and ensure stability in the region.

Greece’s commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts reflects a broader commitment to international law and dialogue as a means of resolving conflicts. The upcoming meeting between Armenian and Azerbaijani officials signals a continued push for peace and cooperation in the region, despite historical tensions.
