The Cyber Cell of Delhi Police has arrested Disha Ravi, a 21-year-old climate activist, for spreading a ‘toolkit’ related to the farmers’ movement. According to news agency ANI, Disha Ravi has been arrested from Bengaluru on 13 February. A Delhi court has also sent Disha on remand for a 5-day special sale.
Climate change activist Greta Thunberg also shared the controversial ‘toolkit’ related to the farmer movement on Twitter, which she later removed. However, by then the ‘Toolkit’ case had come into the limelight.
Let me tell you that the Cyber Cell of Delhi Police had filed an FIR against the makers of “Toolkit” for waging “social, cultural and economic war against the Indian government”.
The Delhi Police had also asked Google and some social media companies to provide information about email ID, domain URL and some social media accounts in the case of those making the ‘toolkit’.
In several media reports, Cyber Cell Deputy Commissioner Animesh Roy was quoted as saying that Google and other companies had been asked to write letters, create accounts, upload documents and put a ‘toolkit’ on social media.
Police believe that the original document will help investigators identify the person’s who created the “toolkit” and shared it.
Initial investigations by the Delhi Police also revealed the linking of the document to the pro-Khalistan-backed Poetic Justice Foundation.
