Gurugram Administration Initiates Preparations for Upcoming LS Polls

Gurugram gears up for Lok Sabha elections

Gurugram, March 17: As the Lok Sabha election schedule is announced, the district administration of Gurugram is actively preparing for polling. The voting for the Gurgaon Lok Sabha constituency is set for May 25 in the sixth phase, with vote counting on June 4.

Deputy Commissioner, Nishant Kumar Yadav, stated that the notification for elections will be issued on April 29, followed by the nomination process starting the same day. Candidates can file nominations till May 6, with scrutiny on May 7 and withdrawals accepted till May 9, between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Yadav emphasized that candidates must open a new bank account for the elections and reveal their assets and character in an affidavit. He also warned against using caste and religious references in speeches and banners, prohibiting the display of religious places on campaign materials.

Furthermore, political parties must seek permission from the district administration for rallies and roadshows to prevent traffic disruptions. Loudspeakers are restricted from use between 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and government buildings cannot be utilized during the campaigning period.

“The district administration aims to ensure a peaceful and transparent election process,” Yadav affirmed, underlining their commitment to maintaining law and order during this crucial democratic exercise.
