According to legend, when Ravana kidnapped Sita, and she threw her jewelry on the earth, so that Rama could know about her abduction route. Through each of those ornaments, Rama started searching for Sita. During the same search, Rama reached Dandakaranya, where he met Shabari. It is said that that day was the day of Basant Panchami or Vasant Panchami, so even today Vasant Utsav is celebrated in the temple of Shabri Mata at these places.

Puja Vidhi
- On the day of Basant Panchami, wake up early in the morning and after retiring from the bath, etc., offer prayers to Mother Saraswati.
- Decorate the idol or idol of Maa Saraswati with yellow clothes and offer yellow flowers to her.
- It is believed that the spring season begins from this day, so the surroundings appear decorated with yellow flowers.
