'He changed history', Cong minister's praise for Gadkari on development of roads
Bengaluru, Feb 22 (IANS) PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi praised Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for his contribution to development of roads in Karnataka, contrary to the recent criticism by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over “injustice” to the state.
“Since Nitin Gadkari took over as the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, he has managed to change history. He has put in honest efforts and succeeded in them,” Jarkiholi said. BJP MP B.Y. Raghavendra mentioned that 1 lakh km of roads were laid until the BJP came to power, and in the last 10 years, 1 lakh km of roads have been laid in the country.
“He has risen above party lines and dedicatedly works towards the country and state’s development. For this reason, I love and respect him,” Jarkiholi added. He also mentioned that during Gadkari’s entire tenure, there has been no room for confrontation between the Central and state governments.
“This is a special day for Karnataka. In Belagavi, about Rs 7,000 crore worth of works were dedicated. In the south Karnataka region, Rs 6,200 crore worth of projects were dedicated. This is a day that should be written in golden letters in the history of Karnataka state,” Jarkiholi further added.
Jarkiholi emphasized the importance of road development for the overall development of any region, stating that industries and academic activities flourish wherever roads are developed.
The praise for Gadkari comes in the midst of recent criticism of the Central government by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over “injustice” to Karnataka. Jarkiholi’s words reflect a different perspective on the Central government’s role in the development of the state’s infrastructure and highlight the impact of road development on the state’s economic and social progress.
This praise for Gadkari’s work in Karnataka sheds light on the complexities of the relationship between the Central and state governments, and the differing views within the political landscape on the development initiatives undertaken by the Central government in various states.
