Health Ministry: A Balanced Diet Strengthens the Immune System Against Infections like TB

New Delhi, April 7 (IANS) The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare highlighted the significance of a balanced diet in strengthening the immune system against infections like tuberculosis (TB). The Ministry emphasized the importance of making nutritious food choices to achieve the #TBMuktBharat goal.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), India aims to eliminate TB by 2025, ahead of the global target of 2030. India currently accounts for 27% of the global burden of TB with 2.8 million TB cases.

President Droupadi Murmu and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stressed the importance of collective efforts to combat TB. The government allocates approximately Rs 3,000 crore annually for free medicines, testing, and nutrition for 25 lakh TB patients. Additionally, service-minded citizens are supporting 10 lakh TB patients by providing monthly nutrition.

Ensuring a balanced diet is crucial for boosting the immune system and protecting against infections like TB. By promoting healthy nutrition choices, India is working towards a TB-free nation and improving overall public health.
