Here’s how you can purchase and recharge FASTag on Paytm quickly

In a recent development, Paytm users can now purchase a new FASTag directly from the app, issued by HDFC Bank. The Reserve Bank of India banned Paytm Payments Bank Ltd, affecting existing FASTag users who purchased from Paytm. However, users can recharge their accounts and buy new FASTags directly from the app.

According to Paytm, users can recharge their existing Paytm FASTag by selecting the ‘FASTag Recharge’ option under the ‘Bill Payments’ section. The users can choose their issuing bank from a list that includes IDFC First Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, and others, facilitating easy recharge transactions.

Users interested in buying a new FASTag can now do so through the Paytm app by selecting the ‘Buy HDFC FASTag’ option. After entering customer and vehicle details, users can make payments and have the HDFC FASTag sticker delivered to their home address, as per the statement.

The Indian government is contemplating a GPS-based toll collection system to replace the current FASTag system across the country. The proposed system, though still under development, aims to enhance toll collection efficiency. However, no specific timeline has been announced for the launch of the new system.
