High-voltage contest expected in Bengaluru Rural constituency during LS polls

Bengaluru Rural to Witness Intense Contest Between Shivakumar and Gowda Families

Bengaluru Rural constituency is gearing up for a high-voltage battle in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls as Deputy Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and family members of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda are set to go head-to-head for victory.

Known as a stronghold of the Shivakumar family, D.K. Suresh has been representing the seat since 2013, following in the footsteps of former Karnataka CM H.D. Kumaraswamy who won the seat in 2009.

With the BJP and JD-S deciding to field Dr. C.N. Manjunath, son-in-law of Deve Gowda, as the NDA candidate, the political arena in Bengaluru Rural is set for an intense battle.

In response to the BJP’s move, D.K. Suresh urged JD-S workers to consider their allegiance, stating, “Son-in-law has decided that JD-S led by Deve Gowda and his son, former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy is not good.”

Congress’ D.K. Shivakumar expressed shock at a family member of Deve Gowda contesting on a BJP ticket, while former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy defended Manjunath’s credentials and criticized Suresh for his comments.

The stage is set for a showdown in Bengaluru Rural, with conflicting loyalties and political ambitions at play. It remains to be seen which side will emerge victorious in this closely-watched contest.
