Himachal Pradesh CM Inaugurates Lahaul Sharad Utsav

Keylong, Feb 25 (IANS) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu on Sunday inaugurated the Lahaul Sharad Utsav, a traditional winter festival showcasing the vibrant tribal culture of the mountainous region. The festival brings together local customs and traditions, offering activities such as archery, snow sports, culinary delights, and knitting competitions.

Addressing the gathering in Lahaul-Spiti district, the Chief Minister praised the district’s commitment to preserving cultural legacy. He announced the development of five new tourist destinations in the upcoming fiscal year, emphasizing the role of tourism in driving the state’s economy and providing opportunities for locals.

Sukhu also launched the Discover Lahaul Spiti mobile application, featuring modern AI integration and an interactive Chatbot to assist tourists in exploring the district’s attractions and activities. The app aims to provide a deeper understanding of the region’s rich tapestry and undiscovered treasures.

During his visit, Sukhu laid the foundation stone of 11 development projects worth Rs 70.07 crore and inaugurated the Command and Control Centre of district police. The Centre has expanded its CCTV coverage to border areas and popular tourist destinations in Lahaul-Spiti, showcasing the government’s commitment to safety and security.

The Lahaul Sharad Utsav serves as a major tourist attraction, drawing thousands of visitors each year to experience the diverse cultural heritage of the region. The festival highlights the unique traditions of the local tribes and offers a platform for showcasing their talents in various activities.

Overall, the Sharad Utsav promotes local tourism and provides a significant economic boost to the region.
