Himachal Police detain newly-married couple in Bihar's Jahanabad

A team from the Himachal Pradesh Police detained a newly-married couple in Bihar’s Jahanabad district on Saturday. The couple, who are cousins from Gaya district, were taken into custody on allegations of kidnapping. The girl, who was living in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, with her family, was reportedly taken by her husband to Jahanabad.

An FIR has been lodged at a women’s police station in Baddi, following a complaint by the girl’s mother. The girl, however, claims that she willingly went with the man and got married at a temple. Investigations revealed that the couple was in a relationship for a long time and had been in contact over the phone. The girl left her home in Baddi on February 1.

A Himachal Police officer stated, “The girl’s mother lodged a written complaint. We traced the girl’s location to Jahanabad and detained the couple. They will be taken to Baddi for further investigation.” It is clear that the case involves complex family dynamics and intricate relationships that need to be thoroughly investigated to determine the facts of the matter.
