Hockey India Reveals 33-Member Women’s Team for Training Camp

Bengaluru, April 8 (IANS) Hockey India has announced the 33-member Indian women’s hockey team that will continue training in SAI Bangalore till May 16. The squad was finalized after selection trials held on April 6-7. This team will represent India in future coaching camps and international tours.

The team is set to face Argentina, Belgium, Germany, and Great Britain in the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24 later this year. The squad includes goalkeepers Savita, Bichu Devi Kharibam, Bansari Solanki, and Madhuri Kindo, along with defenders, midfielders, and forwards to complete the core group.

Notably, players like Marina Lalramnghaki and Manisha Chauhan, who performed well in the recent Senior Women National Championship, have been included. Preeti Dubey, who made her last appearance in 2017, has also made a comeback. Young talents like Edula Jyoti and Rutuja Dadaso Pisal have been promoted from the Junior team.

Herman Kruis, Hockey India High Performance Director, stated, “The 14th Hockey India Senior Women’s National Championship helped in identifying top players from across the country. The 33-member squad has the potential to lead the Indian Women’s Hockey Team to greater achievements in upcoming tournaments.”

The squad comprises of goalkeepers: Savita, Bichu Devi Kharibam, Bansari Solanki, Madhuri Kindo, defenders: Nikki Pradhan, Udita, Ishika Chaudhary, Monika, Ropni Kumari, Mahima Chaudhary, Jyoti Chhatri, Preeti, midfielders: Salima Tete, Marina Lalramnghaki, Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke, Neha, Jyoti, Edula Jyoti, Baljeet Kaur, Manisha Chauhan, Akshata Abaso Dhekale, Ajmina Kujur, Nisha, forwards: Mumtaz Khan, Lalremsiami, Sangita Kumari, Deepika, Sharmila Devi, Navneet Kaur, Deepika Soreng, Preeti Dubey, Vandana Katariya, Rutuja Dadaso Pisal.
