Holika Dahan 2024: Here’s A List Of What To Do and Not Do To

Below, we have mentioned a few regular rules that you must keep in mind before you immerse yourself in the fun festival:

1. Clean clothes are preferred for the ritual.

2. Try and avoid colors like blue and black. Try wearing bright-coloured items as they are very positive in nature and ward off evil.

3. It is advised to take a bath, be clean, and tidy up your hair before starting with the ritual.

4. The fire should be made out of cow dung, wood, leaves, and wheat grains, as all of them are organic and they also have symbolic reference to the festival.

5. Before starting the bonfire, it is advised to pray to any god you choose. Usually, people get to pray to Radha Krishna, but you can choose whatever god you wish to pray to.

6. Make sure your friends and family are at a safe distance from the fire. Do not stay too close to the fire as it can cause disturbances to the safety of people around. Keep handy buckets of water to put out the fire in case of emergencies.

7. Try to be environmentally friendly and adhere to proper materials to not increase pollution levels or carbon footprints.

8. Try not to lend money on this day. According to myths and legends from the past, it is said that if you lend money during this day, it might lead to financial instabilities later on in your life.
