Back in 2013, a conspiracy theory popped up in the media, and people were selectively losing their minds over it. The claim has made its way back onto the internet again. Now, people on TikTok can’t believe that ‘homework’ means child abuse and it’s just spelled that way.
Does Homework Spelled Backwards “Krowemoh” Means Child Abuse In Latin?
So the term ‘homework,’ which literally no child likes to do, has a Latin underpinning when it is spelled backwards. ‘Krowemoh’ is the word when ‘homework’ is spelled backward, and apparently, it means ‘child abuse’ in Latin.
Now, the claim being made is a huge one. As soon as the claim was made, people started sharing videos and memes all over social media. This reached various people in the global media and got loads of traction online. However, when the fact-checking is done on this word, it turns out the whole thing is false. There are reasons behind the accusation being false as well.
The Latin alphabet has 23 letters; it does not include ‘j,’ ‘u,’ or ‘w’ as letters. The letter ‘w’ was added to the alphabet list in 1500. The way ‘krowemoh’ is spelled doesn’t mean anything, as the pronunciation cannot be done in Latin, making it weird. Several authentic sources like Reuters have declared this claim to be false.
However, the fake scandal on social media continues to be shared online, which is causing the misinformation to spread too much.
After fact-checking for the same issue had been shared online and people started debunking these claims, many of the posts which shared the whole child abuse thing have been removed from social media platforms by their creators.
