A TikTok video in Virginia City has gone viral after it showed some people hurling racial comments at a black man.

This incident has sparked a huge backlash, with users decrying the event and calling for strict action against the offenders.

The incident occurred at the Hot August Nights event at Bonanza Casino, which was organized to raise money for prostate cancer research.

Racist Comments at Hot August Nights in Virginia City Spark Outrage

The video has caused significant uproar, especially due to the alleged racial comments.

Hot August Nights has released a statement confirming that the individuals in the video have been identified and their registrations for the event have been cancelled.

The organization emphasized that none of its representatives, volunteers, or staff appear in the video and that those wearing badges were participants.

Further, Hot August Nights stated that the matter is under investigation and will not end there.

“Following the event, Hot August Nights will further evaluate the Virginia City venue,”

the group stated.

“We are committed to ensuring integrity and safety at all our events and will take action to remove individuals who diminish or harm others.”

The video, recorded at the Hot August Nights event at Bonanza Casino, has garnered 470,000 views. It was posted by TikTok user unclerickyd1.

In the video, a black man can be seen recording a group of people who were yelling, and he claimed that they were making racial comments toward him.

He even claimed that one man taunted him, saying there was a hanging tree down the street for people like him and used a racial slur to insult him.

Later in the video, a woman from the Firehouse Saloon appears and escorts the man off the property.

The man repeatedly asked her not to touch him, while the woman stated that she loved him and that he is her brother. She then takes the black man to the Sheriff.

The Storey County Sheriff’s Office responded to the video, stating,

“The Storey County Sheriff’s Office has received concerning reports and video of an incident that occurred in Virginia City on August 2, 2024. We at the sheriff’s office do not condone or support racism, inequality, or hate speech.”
