Cooking with Herbs

Weed is a well-known substance that many Americans have experienced at least once in their lives, and now it’s gaining more traction to become legal. About 60 percent of Americans support this trend.

Cannabis can be used in almost anything, and that includes cooking with it. Not only do edibles taste good, but they also give you a deeper and longer-lasting high than what you can get just smoking it.

If you are a weed enthusiast looking to spice up your bud life or a newcomer ready to experience all that cannabis has to offer, here are some ways on how to make edibles.

Prepping the Weed for Cooking

For you to cook with weed, there are a few steps that you must go through first to get the best results.

First, you must rinse and soak your weed (overnight for best results). The soak will reduce the chlorophyll in the weed leaves. Otherwise, it will make the edibles look green and taste bitter.

Next, you will need to decarb your weed. You must cook between 215-225 degrees Fahrenheit until it’s dry. This is to make the weed fully activate in the edible. Any higher than this will ruin the bud.

Fats and Oils

Once this is complete, you can then move to create various edibles. Most people making baked edibles like to infuse the cooked leaves with fats and oils like butter.

Cannabutter

To make Cannabutter you’ll need 100g of butter, 100g of ground leaves, and 100ml of water

Melt the butter and mix the weed in a pot. Simmer and stir the butter while adding water to keep it from drying out. Do this for anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours (depends on preference).

Canna oil

Considered healthier by some avid users, it follows basically the same steps as cannabutter. Just be sure to stir consistently and do not allow it to reach boiling point.

Bud Brownies

A classic edible, weed brownies are a must-try for first-timers and an old faithful for the enthusiast.

You can make them from the box or scratch, it’s up to you. But for the box mix, use all the ingredients that the box stipulates in its instructions. You can opt-out of using vegetable oil in favor of the canna oil.

If you still would rather use the vegetable oil you can cannabis infuse this also by putting it on low heat and stirring in the leaves until it emits an aroma. Wait for the oil to cool before using it.

Marijuana Ice Cream

Weed ice cream is one that is relatively easy to make and you can make it however your sweet tooth likes.

First, melt about 16oz of heavy cream in a saucepan. Heat it to about medium temperature. You can use your cannabutter here with sugar and mix them all, adding your desired ingredients (cookie chunks, weed brownie chunks, fruit, etc.) then let it freeze overnight.
