How To Open Mahila Samman Savings Certificate 2023 in the Post Office? STEP-BY-STEP Guide

Mahila Samman Savings Certificate is open to the public since 1st April 2023. It was announced by the Department of Post. For those who don’t know the certificate is a part of the Union Budget FY 2023-24 by the Central Government. It aims to offer financial security to every woman in India. 

About Mahila Samman Savings Certificate 2023

In this scheme, any woman in the country can open a bank account on her behalf and also on behalf of a minor girl child by her guardian. On this account, MSSC offers an interest rate of 7.5% p.a. Later it will be credited to bank accounts on a compounded and quarterly basis. If you want to open this account then all you need is a sum in multiples of 100 Rs or at least Rs 1000.

Any woman can open n number of accounts with a maximum limit of Rs. 2,00,000/-. Also, a time gap of 3 months should be maintained between the opening account and the existing account. It should be noted that the current scheme is only applicable for 2 years and by 31st March 2025, it will end.

Here’s How to open Mahila Samman Savings Certificate in the Post office

The steps are pretty simple. Just follow the procedure listed below- 

Step 1: Visit the nearby Post Office

Step 2: Fill out the form to open the bank account

Step 3: KYC Documents (Aadhaar and PAN card) are required to open a new account. 

Step 4: Pay-in-Slip is needed to submit the cheque or money to the post office. 

Nomination

Account holders are applicable to nominate any person in their family in case of death. The existing amount at that time will be given to the nominated person of the family. 

Interest rate

Make sure to remember that the interest on the amount under this scheme will be at 7.5% per annum.
