‘Ek Chamaat Maarenge, Bihar Pahunch Jaogi’

On April 22, 2022, an incident occurred in Kumari. She recounted how a colleague regarded her in an ethnically insensitive way.

Nitika said that her colleague said, “EK CHAMAAT MAARENGE, BIHAR PAHUCH JAOGI.” It could be translated to English as, “I will slap you so hard, you will reach Bihar.”

Kumari reported the incident to her manager.

Surprisingly, no actions were taken at all.

Moreover, in the next team meeting, Nitika Kumari was asked to “dismiss the comment as a hatred comment.”

Inadequate HR Response

Kumari mentioned that following the incident she filed a POSH complaint with the HR team.

For those unversed, POSH refers to the Prevention of Sexual Harassment.

Days passed, and she received an email asking for feedback on May 3.

However, there were no updates on the actions taken until then.

In another experience of hers, a colleague made an objectifying remark about her by saying, “Tmhare jaisi ladki hum aaj tk ni dekhe hai, akele pura UK team ka naam kharab kr k rkhi hai.”

The colleague was questioned and he justified the comment stating, “tmhare alawa kisi UK team ki ladki ko hm ni dkhe hai cigarette pite huye.”

However, Kumari revealed that she noticed the same colleague consuming tobacco and spitting on the premises of the workplace.
