Human Rights Day is observed on 10 December every year. It is celebrated to highlight the importance of human rights everyone is entitled to regardless of their age, sex, gender, caste or religion. Back in 1948, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly.
Every year a new theme is announced in order to make its impact more efficient. This year i.e 2023 the theme will be Freedom, Equality and Justice for All.
All human rights are protected by national as well as international laws. In our country, India, human rights has a separate framework that includes-
Right to Equality
Means equal rights for each and every citizen. It discourages any kind of discrimination on the basis of place of birth, religion, caste and gender.
Right to Freedom
Giving freedom of speech, and expression as well as assembly without arms, freedom of moving in any territory of your nation. It allows you to have the freedom of choosing any profession or religion.
Right against Exploitation
Right to condemn child labour, human trafficking as well as forced labour. Any kind of act where a person is forced to work without his/her consent.
Right to Freedom of Religion
Right to choose any religion you feel desired in the country of India. Every religion must be treated equally.
Cultural and Educational Rights
Equal rights to have different religions, cultures and linguistic minorities. It allows them to protect their origin and conserve their heritage.
Right to Constitutional Remedies
Right to approach the Supreme Court of India in order to protect their rights from violation of their fundamental rights.
