'Hurts to see them so mercilessly torn apart': Anand Mahindra on video of dismantling truck

New Delhi, Feb 22 (IANS) – Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra expressed his dismay over a video showing a machine dismantling a truck, saying it “hurts to see them so mercilessly torn apart”. Sharing the video on social media platform X, Mahindra highlighted the technology and effort that goes into producing trucks, and suggested that through recycling, they can live ‘forever’.

In the post that has been viewed over 12K times, Mahindra wrote, “Someone arrest that claw-excavator for ‘truck homicide!’ As manufacturers, we know how much technology & effort goes into producing trucks.”

Responding to the post, several users shared their thoughts. One user questioned, “Why didn’t they just separate all parts and melt them then add something to make it usable again.” Another user assured Mahindra, “No worries sir, it will roll back into the Mahindra plant in the shape of a steel coil, to be reborn.” A third user suggested, “Why can’t they donate the organs? They can live in splits.. Give life to another vehicle or body”.

The video and Mahindra’s comments have sparked a conversation about the practice of recycling and reusing vehicle parts. The sentiment of concern and empathy for the dismantled trucks has resonated with the viewers, prompting them to consider alternative ways of handling the recycling process.

The discussion initiated by Anand Mahindra’s post sheds light on the environmental impact and ethical considerations associated with the disposal and recycling of vehicles. The conversation has brought attention to the need for sustainable practices and responsible handling of materials in the automotive industry.

In taking a closer look at the implications of vehicle recycling, Mahindra’s post has sparked important discussions on the need for more thoughtful and considerate approaches to the end-of-life process for vehicles. The conversation has raised awareness about the value of recycling and reusing materials in a manner that respects the effort and technology invested in their production.

The sharing of the video and Mahindra’s reflections have prompted a meaningful conversation about the treatment of vehicles after their lifespan, highlighting the need for conscious and sustainable practices in the automotive industry.
