Hyundai Creta vs Toyota Hyryder: A Rivalry Between Japanese and Korean Automakers

Hyundai has revitalised the competition in the fiercely competitive mid-size SUV segment of the Indian auto market by introducing significant updates to the Creta. The 2024 Creta SUV features design changes, upgraded engine options, and new features to solidify its position in the market against competitors like the Toyota Hyryder.

Hyundai Motor is aiming to dominate the compact SUV market with the new Creta, which offers a revamped design, improved engine choices, and advanced features. Competing with the Toyota Hyryder, the Creta stands out with its technology and safety features, while the Hyryder focuses more on offering practicality and AWD technology.

The new Creta comes equipped with premium features such as a dual-screen setup, front seat ventilation, panoramic sunroof, and a BOSE sound system. Safety features include level-2 ADAS technology, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and blind-spot monitoring. In contrast, the Toyota Hyryder offers a Smart Pro Play Plus infotainment display, ventilated seats, Head-Up Display, and Surround-View Camera, along with AWD technology and four drive modes.

Hyundai has gone all out with the engine options for the Creta, offering a 1.5-liter petrol, diesel, and turbocharged petrol engine with a range of gearbox choices. On the other hand, the Toyota Hyryder comes with a petrol engine and two hybrid options: mild hybrid and strong hybrid, providing higher power output and better mileage compared to the Creta.

In terms of pricing, the Hyundai Creta falls between ₹10.99 lakh and ₹20.14 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Toyota Hyryder is priced slightly higher between ₹11.14 lakh and ₹20.19 lakh (ex-showroom). Despite the similar pricing, the Creta and Hyryder cater to different customer preferences with their unique offerings in the competitive mid-size SUV segment.
