Hyundai Motor to Supply Genesis Sedans for S. Korea-Africa Summit

Hyundai Motor Group is set to provide luxury Genesis brand sedans for the South Korea-Africa Summit in Seoul in June. The carmaker will offer 77 G90 flagship sedans and 42 G80s as official vehicles for the summit, which is scheduled to take place on June 4-5. The summit will be attended by 10,000 officials and business leaders from the African region.

Africa has become a major economic bloc with a GDP of $3 trillion since the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area in 2021. The region’s population is projected to grow to 1.7 billion by 2035, highlighting its significant growth potential. Car makers view Africa as strategically important due to its abundant reserves of key materials for producing car batteries such as nickel, cobalt, lithium, mangan, and graphite.

Hyundai’s sponsorship of the summit reflects the growing importance of the Africa region in the global economy. The provision of luxury Genesis sedans as official vehicles demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting high-level events and initiatives that promote economic cooperation and development between South Korea and Africa. The participation of Hyundai in the summit underscores its recognition of Africa’s emerging prominence as an economic powerhouse.
