Sreenidi Deccan FC Dominates Aizawl FC with 5-1 Victory

Aizawl, Feb 19 (IANS) – Sreenidi Deccan FC asserted their dominance in the I-League 2023-24 with a commanding 5-1 victory over Aizawl FC at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Monday. Ibrahim Sissoko scored twice, and David Casteneda, Ali Sabia, and Brandon Vanlalremdika each added a goal for Sreenidi, while Joe Zoherliana scored the lone goal for Aizawl FC. The win brings Sreenidi Deccan FC within five points of table toppers Mohammedan Sporting, with a game in hand.

Sreenidi Deccan FC started the game with purpose, despite playing away from home, and were rewarded for their pressure with an early penalty. Although the initial penalty was missed, Sreenidi managed to break the deadlock in the 28th minute from a long throw-in. Aizawl FC fought back and scored a goal, but their momentum was halted when they were reduced to 10 men.

In the second half, Sreenidi continued to dominate, adding three more goals to secure a resounding victory. Ibrahim Sissoko’s brilliant effort in the 83rd minute and Brandon Vanlalremdika’s stunning goal in the 90th minute capped off a memorable evening for the visitors.

The win solidifies Sreenidi Deccan FC’s position in the title race as they continue to put pressure on the league leaders. With their impressive performance, they have positioned themselves as strong contenders for the I-League championship.
