IDF Chief Apologizes for Aid Workers’ Deaths, Citing Misidentification as Cause of Mishap

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued an apology for the tragic airstrike on an aid convoy in Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of seven World Central Kitchen (WCK) workers. IDF chief Herzi Halevi acknowledged the misidentification that led to this devastating incident and assured an investigation is underway.

Halevi emphasized the significance of WCK’s humanitarian work in conflict zones and highlighted the past collaboration between the organization and IDF. The preliminary findings of the IDF’s probe into the incident have been reviewed by the chief.

The IDF chief reiterated that there were no malicious intentions behind the airstrike on the WCK aid workers. The apology serves as a recognition of the grave error that occurred during the mission in Gaza on Monday night.
