Israel Defense Forces (IDF) closing in on Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar
Tel Aviv, Feb 19 (IANS) – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is closing in on Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, widely believed to be the mastermind behind the October 7 massacre in southern Israel, which led to the death of 1,200 people and the kidnapping of 250 people.
Sources in the Israel defense ministry have revealed to IANS that they have information on Sinwar’s whereabouts and that he is on the run with his family in the tunnel network of Hamas, surrounded by hostages from Israel. Sinwar has reportedly used the hostages as a shield to prevent any attack from the Israel army.
Israel’s defense minister Yoav Gallant has stated that the Hamas leadership is currently looking for a replacement for Sinwar, as they are clueless about his whereabouts, as well as that of Mohammed Deif, the military commander of Hamas who orchestrated the October 7 massacre. The IDF has also released photographs of Sinwar and his family in one of the tunnel networks of the terror group.
A retired Major General of Mossad has confirmed that the IDF is closing in on Yahya Sinwar. The spokesperson of IDF, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, had previously announced that the IDF would catch Sinwar dead or alive, while Yoav Gallant had publicly called for the assassination of Sinwar.
In addition, the Khan Younis brigade of Hamas, one of its most powerful units, has already suffered significant losses, with 200 men from the brigade surrendering to the IDF.
The Israel Defense Forces’ pursuit of Yahya Sinwar continues, with the government and military determined to bring him to justice for his alleged role in the October 7 massacre.
