IGNOU is set to get a campus of its own in Greater Noida

Noida– In the latest development, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will be building its regional centre in Greater Noida i.e. Knowledge Park V. It will be spread across 2,000 square meters and will be open to the public in next month July. Earlier the regional centre of the university was in a rented building situated in Sector-62. With the new campus, we can also provide practical classes, studios and other facilities to the students,” Dr Amit Chaturvedi, head of IGNOU regional centre, Noida, stated in the official statement.

Currently, the centre is under construction by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). The work will be completed by next month. Plus, IGNOU will start its work next month, as stated by Chaturvedi. “The construction work started in April last year and is almost done now. It is a three-storey building with parking provision on the ground floor. We will hand over the centre to IGNOU in July.” – said by Anil Mittal, executive engineer of CPWD.
Till now, IGNOU has around 4 regional centres in the Uttar Pradesh state i.e. one in Lucknow (head regional centre), Aligarh, Noida and Banaras. “Once the Knowledge Park V centre opens, it will be the largest in Eastern UP,” Chaturvedi added. Every year, over 35,000 students take admission to the Noida regional centre, as per the official statement. “We expect to get more admission from the next session,” he said. Though the classes will be mostly conducted online, the centre will provide space for practical classes and studio rooms.
In the meantime, IGNOU will also be opening a new medical centre next month under the Government Institute of Medical Science (GIMS). “The study center will offer PG Diploma in Maternal and Child Healthcare, Hospital Management, and in Geriatric Medicine and certificates for Healthcare Waste Management courses.
