IIT Kanpur’s Remarkable Performance in Data Science and AI Categories in QS World University Rankings

New Delhi, April 13 (IANS) The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has made a significant mark in the 2024 QS World University Rankings by subject. IIT has secured a global rank of 36 in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (AI) and is positioned second within the country.
In addition to its achievement in AI, IIT has maintained its fifth position in Engineering & Technology in India with a global QS rank of 93 in 2024. The institute has seen improvements in Computer Science, moving from 96 to 84, ranking third nationally, and in Mathematics, jumping from 122 to 106, being recognized as the second best institute in India.
Furthermore, IIT is advancing its AI initiatives through collaborations with public and private entities. The institute is also partnering with the Government of Uttar Pradesh to enhance telemedicine through AI within its upcoming Medical School. These efforts are part of IIT’s commitment to drive innovation and excellence in various fields.
IIT’s progress is evident in other disciplines as well. In Electrical Engineering, the institute remains at 96, holding the fifth position in India. In Natural Sciences, IIT has advanced from 248 to 215, staying fifth nationally. In Mechanical Engineering, the institute has jumped from 121 to 101, remaining sixth in the country. Additionally, in Civil Engineering, IIT has moved from the 101-150 band to the 51-100 band.
