Imad Wasim, Pakistan all-rounder, changes mind about retiring from international cricket

Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has decided to reverse his retirement from international cricket to make himself available for selection in the upcoming T20 World Cup in June. After a successful PSL season, Imad is back in the white-ball national team with a focus on the tournament ahead.

Imad Wasim, who announced his retirement in November 2023, changed his mind after discussions with PCB officials. His standout performance in the PSL final, where he took 5-23 and scored 19 unbeaten runs, led to his reconsideration of retirement.

With 126 runs and 12 wickets in the PSL season, Imad demonstrated his all-round skills and consistency. In a statement on social media, he expressed his intention to play in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, thanking PCB for the opportunity.

Having represented Pakistan in 121 matches across formats, Imad has amassed 1472 runs and 109 wickets. Despite making his senior debut in 2015, the 35-year-old has been a key player for Pakistan since his U19 World Cup win in 2006.

Pakistan will have ample time to prepare for the T20 World Cup, starting on June 1, with upcoming series against New Zealand at home and in England. Imad’s return adds depth to the team as they gear up for the global tournament.
