Imelda Staunton admits to wearing Queen’s outfits from ‘The Crown’

Actress Imelda Staunton, known for her role as Queen Elizabeth in ‘The Crown’, revealed that she still wears the Queen’s clothes from the show in her daily life, as per a report by The Sun. Staunton mentioned that it took time to move on from the serious role she portrayed for four years.

Staunton expressed, “It was quite a serious job and quite a serious responsibility carrying all that stuff. I finished doing that last May and June and shaking that off — so now I can be up and funny — it’s just taken me that time.” She added, “The work that went in, you can see it on the screen, every detail from the set to the costumes. I’m wearing one of her shirts now.”

While attending a charity event in Brighton, Staunton was seen wearing one of the blouses she used for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth. Despite receiving Best Actress nominations for her performance, Staunton faced criticism from some royal commentators.

Staunton’s portrayal of Queen Elizabeth, who passed away at the age of 96 in September 2022, earned her accolades and recognition from prestigious award bodies. However, her depiction was not without its critics, as some royal commentators voiced their disapproval.
