In a low-scoring thriller, Shimron Hetmyer shines as RR defeats PBKS by three wickets in IPL 2024

In a thrilling match at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Shimron Hetmyer’s unbeaten 27 off 10 balls helped Rajasthan Royals secure a three-wicket victory over Punjab Kings. After restricting PBKS to 147/8, RR faced a tough chase but Hetmyer’s late heroics sealed the win with a ball to spare.

Despite struggling at 115/5, Hetmyer’s aggressive 27, along with Rovman Powell’s crucial 11, guided RR to their fifth win of the tournament. Chasing 148, openers Tanush Kotian and Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a solid start for RR, with Jaiswal top-scoring with 39 in the match.

PBKS’ top-order meltdown led to them posting 147/8, with Ashutosh Sharma’s quickfire 31 providing some late fireworks. RR bowlers, led by Keshav Maharaj and Avesh Khan, contained PBKS well, with each of them grabbing two wickets in the match.

The win helps RR maintain their pole position in the points table, while PBKS suffer their fourth defeat of the tournament. Hetmyer’s explosive batting display was the highlight of the match, as RR emerged victorious in a low-scoring thriller against PBKS.
