In his school days, Rishab Shetty showcased his Yakshagana dance talent

Actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty has embarked on his artistic journey from a young age, starting with Yakshagana dance in the sixth grade. Known for incorporating the traditional folk form into his work, he continues to showcase the cultural richness of coastal Karnataka through his projects.

Yakshagana, a popular traditional folk dance form in coastal Karnataka, has been a significant part of Rishab Shetty’s artistic expression since his early years. He reminisced about his beginnings, stating, “I was in sixth grade when I performed Yakshagana.”

With a vision to bring the folklore of his region to a global audience, Rishab Shetty has utilized Yakshagana in his blockbuster film ‘Kantara: The Legend’. The dance form was prominently featured in the track ‘Varaha Roopam’, adding a touch of cultural authenticity to the narrative.

During an Amazon Prime Video event announcing the prequel ‘Kantara Chapter 1’, Rishab Shetty showcased his talent by performing Yakshagana live. Currently immersed in the production of the prequel to ‘Kantara’, the actor-filmmaker remains dedicated to celebrating his cultural roots through his creative endeavors.
