Inaccurate ad metrics exposed, X platform preferred by advertisers: Musk

New Delhi, April 12 (IANS): In a recent statement, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, criticized Meta, led by Mark Zuckerberg, for not sharing actual advertisement metrics. Musk claimed that his X platform provides better returns than Meta.

When a follower commented that X has superior returns and accused Meta of lying about their ad metrics, Musk responded with a simple “True”. The tech billionaire also mentioned that their advertising relevance has significantly improved.

Moreover, another user on X highlighted the noticeable trend of increasing ad costs and decreasing Return On Advertisement Spend (ROAS) on Meta. This situation seems to be worsening, leaving advertisers with limited control over ad relevance and reach on Meta. Musk suggested that many new advertisers are now turning to X for better results.

In February of this year, Musk’s social media platform introduced the ‘Creator Targeting’ program, allowing advertisers to run ads alongside specific content creators. This feature enabled advertisers to avoid having their ads displayed next to controversial or offensive content.

Interestingly, last November, X CEO Linda Yaccarino admitted that some advertisers had left the platform due to controversies surrounding Musk’s endorsement of anti-Semitic content. This incident sheds light on the ongoing challenges faced by social media platforms in maintaining advertiser trust.

The criticism towards Meta by Elon Musk brings to light the importance of transparency and control in the advertising industry. As advertisers continue to seek platforms that offer better returns and more control over their ad campaigns, the competition among social media giants is likely to intensify in the future.
