India and US working together to create a free and prosperous Indo-Pacific: Envoy Garcetti

US Ambassador Eric Garcetti praised the joint HADR exercise between India and the US, highlighting the importance of the partnership in securing shared interests. The exercise, named ‘Tiger Triumph-24’, aims to enhance interoperability and coordination between the two nations’ forces.

Commencing on Monday and continuing until March 31 on the Eastern Seaboard, the exercise focuses on developing SOPs for conducting HADR operations. Ambassador Garcetti tweeted, “We’re paving the way for a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific that benefits all nations,” emphasizing the significance of the US-India defense partnership.

US Secretary of Defence, Lloyd Austin, recognized the Indian Navy’s role in anti-piracy operations during a conversation with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. They discussed implementing the India-US Defence Cooperation Roadmap to further strengthen bilateral defense ties.

The Indian Navy stated that the exercise includes Training Visits, Expert Exchanges, Sports Events, and Social interactions during the Harbour Phase from March 18 to 25. Following this phase, the ships will embark on the Sea Phase to undertake Maritime, Amphibious, and HADR operations to enhance cooperation and coordination between the navies of both countries.
