INDIA Bloc Trying To Woo Nitish Kumar and Chandra Babu Naidu, Offers Deputy PM Post To Nitish And Special Status To AP

With the NDA just a whisker beyond the simple majority of 272 seats, the INDIA alliance is trying to woo the fence sitters like Nitish Kumar and Chandra Babu Naidu to increase their figures and have a shy at forming a non BJP government in Center.

NDA partners TDP and JDU are being contacted according to ABP news. It has been reported that Sharad Pawar is in touch with JD(U) supreme Nitish Kumar.

There are reports that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Congress ally MK Stalin had contacted Telugu Desam Chief Chandra Babu Naidu to seek his support for the INDIA bloc, sources told ABP News.

The INDIA alliance has offered two  key positions to both Nitish Kumar and Chandra Babu Naidu. While the former is being offered the Deputy PM post the latter is being offered special status for Andhra Pradesh.

Coming to the voting in Bihar, the RJD maintains its position as the party with the highest vote share in the state, having secured 23% of the total votes polled. However Nitish Kumar’s JDU is currently leading in 15 seats, with the NDA leading in a total of 13 seats while the opposition INDIA alliance is leading in 9 seats. Counting is going on in more than 36 centers across Bihar.

Notable political figures whose fate will be decided include Samrat Choudhary (BJP), Nitish Kumar (Janta Dal), Chirag Paswan (Janshakti Party), and Tejashwi Yadav (INDIA) who are all locking horns and competing for dominance.

The performance of the INDIA alliance is much better than the 2019 elections when the NDA swept Bihar, winning 39 out of the 40 seats. The BJP had won 17 seats, JDU claimed 16, and LJP took home 6 seats while Congress got just 1 seat. In 2014 the BJP won 23 seats while its ally LJP, won 6 seats. JDU, which contested alone, managed only 2 seats.

The BJP is also doing all it can to keep its flock within the NDA intact. The Prime Minister personally rang up Chandra Babu Naidu to congratulate him on his party’s victory. It is also reported that the PM will attend the swearing in ceremony of Chandra Babu Naidu. Sources also said that BJP has offered Naidu the role of convener for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The TDP was leading in 16 seats as of the last update.

A JDU spokesperson has said that the party would continue to be a part of the NDAS alliance. It must be remembered that Nitish Kumar has a history of making political shifts and was the first to propose a united Opposition against the BJP.
