India concludes Asian Track Cycling Championships with 18 medals including 9 gold
India concluded its 43rd Senior, 30th Junior, and 12th Para Asian Track Cycling Championships with an impressive medal tally of 9 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze medals, showcasing the nation’s talent and determination. Para-cyclists shone with 8 gold and 4 silver medals, highlighting their prowess on the international stage.
The Asian Track Cycling Championships in New Delhi saw Malaysia emerge as the top medal winner with 19 gold medals, followed by Japan and Korea. On the final day, India added a silver and a historic bronze medal in the Madison event of the women’s junior category, with Harshita Jakhar’s outstanding performance stealing the show.
Harshita Jakhar’s stellar display in the Madison event earned her a bronze medal, adding to her earlier silver in Individual Pursuit and bronze in Team Pursuit events. Her father expressed pride in her achievements, foreseeing a bright future for his daughter in cycling. In the same competition, Indian rider Ronaldo Laitonjam placed 5th in the 1km Time Trial event.
