India headed to be $35 trillion economy by 2047: Piyush Goyal

Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal revealed the government’s ambitious plans to expand the current $3.7 trillion Indian economy to a $30-35 trillion fully developed economy by 2047 and to secure the nation’s food and energy supply. Addressing a media delegation of 35 journalists from 19 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, Goyal emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s holistic vision and good governance as key factors in India’s transformation into the 5th largest economy in the world. He also projected India to become the 3rd largest economy by 2027.

Goyal praised PM Modi’s relentless pursuit of strengthening India’s macroeconomic fundamentals and focusing on the welfare of the poor in terms of food, healthcare, and education. He highlighted India’s best performing decade in the last 75 years of Independence, with inflation being halved and interest rates in control.

The minister’s remarks came during a meeting with a media delegation from Latin American and Caribbean countries, where he emphasized India’s economic growth and government’s efforts to ensure the nation’s well-being. Goyal’s statements reflect the government’s commitment to achieving a significant economic expansion and securing the country’s food and energy needs in the years to come.
