The Office of the Consulate General of India in Chicago is providing assistance to the family of Amarnath Ghosh, a Kuchipudi dancer from Kolkata who was shot dead in Missouri. The Consulate has pledged to support the investigation of the tragic incident by the St. Louis police and the University.
Following the shooting death of Ghosh, the Consulate expressed condolences to his loved ones and initiated forensic investigations with the police to provide necessary support. The case gained attention when TV actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee took to social media to appeal for help from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar for the swift repatriation of Ghosh’s body.
According to Devoleena, Ghosh, an accomplished dancer pursuing a PhD, was fatally shot while taking an evening walk by an unknown assailant.
