Indonesia to launch first hydrogen refueling station
Indonesia to Establish First Hydrogen Refueling Station for Vehicles
Indonesia has achieved a milestone in the development of renewable energy with the establishment of its first hydrogen refueling station for hydrogen-fueled vehicles. The station is set to be launched at the end of this month, according to Indonesia’s electricity firm. The breakthrough was revealed at the country’s annual automotive show in Jakarta.
The President Director of the state-owned electricity company PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo, highlighted that the hydrogen station is a significant step in Indonesia’s commitment to the development of new renewable energy and the future vehicle ecosystem. This includes providing green hydrogen for transportation needs. “Indonesia is ready to become a major player in the ecosystem of hydrogen-fueled vehicles, just like we become one of the pioneers in the establishment of electric-vehicle ecosystem,” Prasodjo stated.
The station facilities will not only feature hydrogen-based electric vehicle chargers but also a Hydrogen Center and Hydrogen Gallery Room, serving as a center for hydrogen-related training and education in Indonesia. The promotion of the new station at the automotive event is expected to attract business people and communities in the automotive world to transition to green hydrogen-based future vehicles.
Indonesia, as the world’s fourth-largest populous nation, is making significant strides in reducing carbon emissions and aims to achieve net zero emissions by 2060.
This marks a significant progress in Indonesia’s efforts towards sustainable and renewable energy sources, and sets the stage for the country to lead the way in the adoption of hydrogen-fueled vehicles. It also demonstrates the country’s commitment to addressing climate change and reducing carbon emissions in line with global sustainability goals.
